Our client is a leader in the design and manufacturing of niche technology solutions for research and production applications. From simple components to precision and computer-controlled systems, our client works to devise sound, economical solutions for all of their clients engineering needs. They are currently looking for an Assembly & Test Build Engineer to join their team in Hastings (4 month contract).

Responsibilities: Assembly of standard and custom products, sub-assemblies and coatings systems.  Assembles or modifies mechanical or electrical assemblies from schematics or work instructions of a high complexity. Some administrative responsibilities maybe included.

Key Job Elements:

  • Assembly and testing of higher level mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Wiring and / or plumbing (hard and soft) within the system framework
  • Mounting of mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and / or electrical assemblies
  • Ability to perform helium leak detection using an RGA
  • Repair and fault diagnosis of systems in the field, as required
  • Support the service department with additional information when required
  • May include leadership roles to assist Manager in quality control, scheduling and daily activities
  • May include some customer interaction and on-site install/service work
  • Training of other technicians on proper methods and techniques regarding assembly tasks
  • Ability to safely use standard tools and portable power equipment
  • May include some basic manual machining capabilities
  • Perform work in a logical, orderly and skillful manner while maintaining a high level of quality workmanship
  • Understands department KPIs and works towards meeting these
  • Understands H&S implications and follows procedures necessary for safe working
  • Support the service department with additional information when required
  • Assist install and repair of systems at customer facilities when requested
  • Order and advise standard and custom packing crates
  • Clean and maintain work area
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required



  • Related experience.


  • Vocational training, supervisor experience and basic understanding of vacuum technology.
