This role requires an experienced Pest Controller who wants to work in a climate of trust where they can put the client at the heart of what they do. They will get the flexibility to work to a schedule that suits them and their customers, and they’ll also receive an excellent salary package and not be at the wrong end of micromanagement. This new role is due to growth, and will help cover the London area.
Our Client Company
Our client is a well-established regional commercial pest control company, mainly covering London and the South East. They have a strong service ethos that allows the technician to take more responsibility about how they work, so it’s the customer who’s driving the service agenda, rather than the company’s self-interest. They pay market-leading wages, and in exchange, expect market-leading service quality

Reporting direct to the Service Manager (but not 3 times a day!), this is a role where the technician sets their own agenda to make sure the client gets the service they need and pay for. You will be allowed to make your own decisions about how that works as long as it’s planned and follows logical and sensible routines. The client base is predominantly commercial and the work preventive, although it will include proofing work and one-off jobs where that’s needed to produce the best outcomes.
The company has a commission scheme for leads and sales, but that element of the job isn’t targeted – your customer should only be recommended what they need, not what the company wants to sell them at any particular time. This unusual approach helps build strong long-term relationships that are in everybodies interests. This long-term vision is behind the company’s growth, hence this new position.
Of course this approach comes with responsibility, but the team thrive where they’re trusted to make the best decisions. The company uses the handheld technology to maintain records and complete customer reporting.
THE CANDIDATE – Qualifications, skills and experience
You will be BPCA Level 2 qualified and great with people. You will also be able to demonstrate a stable career history and the ability to work on your own and as part of a team. You will have a working experience of most types of pest control work, especially understanding the risks from pests and stopping them developing in the first place.
Given the salary and the company’s passion for service, this position is likely to attract a good deal of interest. The qualities that the successful candidates is likely to be able to demonstrate are:
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- An understanding that service is not just the technical elements of the role, but that also the nature of positive human relationships
- Self-organised. You like things to be in their proper place – always!
- You welcome teamwork whenever its’ needed – the organisation has some large customers and can undertake large-scale projects and contracts.
- You will be able to tell good customer stories and have plenty of examples.
Location and Hours
This role is to help cover the London area. You should live anywhere around or within the M25 rim.
There are 40 working hours a week that can be worked flexibly depending on what the customer needs, and what access can be arranged. Overtime is available.
Financials and Rewards
The basic salary is likely to be over £25k for the very best candidates. There’s also overtime, commission and annual bonus. All of those can be described in detail at interview, and set to be market leading. Sales are not targeted, but they are encouraged where there’s a real need.

The Interview Process
There’s an initial screening and interview with Martin Ellis of the RSE Group before any candidate is presented. Thereafter will be two interviews with the company.
