#GBBO madness takes hold of the RSE Team :)
Today is the FINAL of The Great British Bake Off – and boy has it taken our office by storm. With the bake off being a “piping hot” topic of conversation. We decided to jump on the “Wagon Wheel” and give it “all of muffin” in our social media competition.

We held a #GBBO Blind Taste Test which 7 of our team members took part baking until the wee hours of this morning ready for the competition today!
We were blown away by the entries and here is a little bit more information about the bakes- and the winner! (Minus the funky graphic drawing of their ideas!)
Alan: Death by Golden Chocolate.
This was a single tier chocolate sponge with a very high content of cocoa and finished with a golden chocolate ganache and spires of dark chocolate to decorate. Nom!
Karin: Malteser Madness
This was a two tier chocolate sponge cake made with chocolate Malteser infused butter icing throughout. It was then iced with a chocolate butter cream and a circular pattern of maltesers covered the top! A few may have fallen off on the journey into work – so naturally there was a packet hanging around to “top them up” 🙂
Louise: Chocolate Chessboard
This was a stunning two tier chocolate sponge cake made with a chocolate orange filling. This was then beautifully piped with white and milk chocolate ganache to resemble a chess board and then topped with handmade solid chocolate chess pieces. Impressive!
Harriet: Chocolate Orange
This was again a two tier rich chocolate cake infused with orange syrup iced with a cream and orange zest ganache. To decorate, Harriet added toffee crunch chocolate orange segments… (yum!) Catherine: Creamy Chocolate Middle
This was another two tier chocolate extravaganza. This cake was a vanilla sponge cake filled with chocolate butter cream AND a cream filling. It was then covered in chocolate and caramel icing and sprinkled with chocolate shavings to finish. Voila!
Bo: Raspberry and Mint Chocolate Brownie
This was a classic chocolate brownie baked with a dense gooey chocolate filling topped with cream and crushed walnut topping decorated with fresh mint leaves, raspberries and Lindtt Chocolate squares.
Martin: Leaden Chocolate Nuclear Surprise
This was a two tier chocolate sponge made with an added extra special ingredient of – SWEET CHILLI SAUCE. It was wonderfully iced with chocolate ganache and yellow fondant … in the shape of a TOXIC WASTE sign! Needless to say- Mandy did try this cake – however she failed to swallow it! Ha ha.
We have been overwhelmed with the entries for “Match the Baker”& even Mandy and Rob found it hard to match up who made what cake this morning!
But it is with great pride that we announce that Bo- our Recruitment Resourcer WON the blind Taste Test with her incredible brownie…
ALL OF THE CAKE WHICH WAS LEFT AFTER TASTING BY THE JUDGES WAS LOVINGLY DELIVERED TO ST MICHAELS HOSPICE IN HASTINGS! HERE IS A SNAP OF SOME OF THE TEAM ENJOYING THE TINS FULLY OF CHOCOLATEY GOODNESS 🙂
