On means tested benefits? Want a career within horticulture?
Plumpton College, near Lewes in East Sussex, run a wide selection of vocational courses but they are running a specialist course for unemployed adults in basic horticulture. The courses are at Level 1 and teach students how to work effectively with plants. The courses are relevant to anyone who has had experience working in this area but may not have qualifications which back up this experience. It is also useful for any unemployed person who wants to gain a simple vocational qualification with practical rather than written assessments. Courses can be accessed at award level which is six weeks long for a short day, once a week. Learners then have the option to progress to a certificate or even diploma.
All these courses are free for unemployed adults over 19 year of age who are on means tested benefits.
Their training centre is based at Netherfield near Battle, East Sussex and there is usually transport available from Battle train station.
