Perm and Temp Job Demands still growing…….
Permanent and temporary job placements grew at their fastest pace for seven and five months respectively, according to November’s Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC)/KPMG ‘Report on Jobs’.
This month’s data reveals permanent staff placements increased at a stronger rate in November, with the rate of expansion reaching a seven-month high. Temporary/contract staff billings also rose at a faster pace, with growth increasing at its sharpest in five months.
Demand for staff also continued to rise in November, although easing to a 29-month low in the rate of growth.
Meanwhile, the availability of staff for both perm and temp/contract roles fell at accelerated rates in November.
Growth of perm placements was broad-based across monitored English regions during November, but the fastest rate of expansion was recorded in the North.
Midlands-based agencies reported the fastest growth of temp billings during November, while the slowest rise was signalled by agencies in the South.
All nine categories of perm staff saw increased demand in November with strongest growth reported for IT & computing workers, closely followed by accounting/financial and executive/professional staff.
Nursing/medical/care remained in top spot in the temp staff demand league table in November, ahead of accounting/financial, IT & computing and engineering. Construction was the only sector where a decline in temp staff demand was signalled, albeit marginal.
