What do you do:

I am known as the Operations & Resourcing Manager – alongside helping to supervise our wonderful recruitment team, I account manage some of our long-term clients – I like to understand a business fully which in turn helps me to find them their perfect employees. These are mostly for permanent full-time jobs and are across different industries, such as customer service, administration, accounts, engineering, HR – usually office based roles. I also act as Executive Assistant to our MD, Mandy Brook. My side-line is helping to walk the dogs, rescuing Mandy from broken down cars, changing the toilet rolls and anything in between! I’m probably best known for my attention to detail, which isn’t a bad thing when I’m helping job seekers with their CVs, cover letters and job applications.

Favourite thing about your job:
Definitely the feeling of placing someone in their dream job! I’m really proud to be part of an approachable, friendly, reputable and supportive talent management team. The work/life balance here is superb and is entirely unlike any other office/agency I’ve worked in!

Professional Experience/Work History:
I began my career within Barclays Commercial Services after leaving college. My roles there varied between Secretary/PA/Customer Service and IT Helpdesk Analyst. I stayed there for 14 years before redundancy forced me into an exciting change! After receiving help from an outplacement service, I found a job working as a Secretary in London for the surf brand Quiksilver/Roxy Head Office, but then returned to the coast (commuting was not my friend). Back beside the seaside I began my recruitment career working with Mandy within a high street recruitment agency. This led me to working for a niche recruitment agency in the aerospace and defence industry and then onto the world of welfare to work before joining RSE in 2012.

Memorable moments from your interview with Mandy:
It was the first interview I had attended in someone’s lounge with a dog (Missy) sat by my side demanding attention. I went to Mandy’s house for my interview, initially to register for work with RSE Group (then known as Recruitment South East). However, during the interview Mandy approached the subject of me temping for her. At the time I was in a job I really didn’t enjoy anymore and I was about to be TUPE’d over to another company, so it was a big jump to go from permanent to temporary work. However, as I tell so many job seekers, if you don’t make that leap you will never know and it often leads to greater things. After a few weeks Mandy offered me a permanent position and since then the team has grown and grown and moved to new, much bigger (and fabulous) premises. I’ll never regret making that step 6 years ago.
