BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – Commercial Cleaning

Ashford based – circa £35k – £40k package

PREAMBLE

This is a B2B sales position that would suit an ambitious graduate or individual looking for their first field-based role. First and foremost, this is a new sales role, but it has some other elements tagged on that will add interest and personal development. You’ve perhaps been successful on inside B2B sales, but now want to spread your wings. This company has a track record for supporting and developing their people……

OUR CLIENT COMPANY

Our client is an established and growing commercial cleaning company, based in the Ashford area and service customers across Kent and beyond. They offer regular contract cleaning to businesses across the county, as well as specialist one-off services through their expert mobile teams. They have built a reputation for service that helps create credibility in the market

THE JOB

First things first, and so as not to mask the prime purpose of this role, this is a targeted sales position, looking to develop a regular flow of new clients who need a regular and reliable service on a contractual basis.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will develop a pipeline of new clients. You’ll research the market, network, look for referrals, build relationships and listen to client needs. You’ll then develop formal sales proposals and follow those through to a conclusion. You will also be selling the company’s specialist one-off services such as window and high-level cleaning. This is a competitive landscape, so listening and building trust will be central to your success. You have an office based telephone sales person to help you with targeted campaigns and programmes.

You’ll also be responsible for developing your own marketing campaigns and ideas – this work will be developmental including targeted direct mail, attending networking events, local exhibitions, and social media, especially on LinkedIn.

This role is central to the organisations growth and brand, so it’s more than just sales. It will provide exposure to many commercial elements. Support and training will be available in the areas it’s needed.

THE CANDIDATE

What counts most of all is your capacity to always deal with people in a positive and friendly manner. Sales here aren’t a one-hit wonder, and building long-term relationships is something you’re already doing, perhaps on an indoor B2B sales role, or perhaps in a mixed B2B sales and marketing team.

Other skills and attributes you’ll bring with you:

  • The ability to construct appealing proposals, tenders or bids that are compelling to the prospect, and profitable for the organisation. Your maths and written English skills are strong.
  • You’re well organised and keep control of all your projects. You’re follow-up skills are on the button.
  • You enjoy an audience, whether that’s out informally networking, or making sales presentations to individuals or small groups.
  • You’re already used to working to deadlines and targets – and thoroughly enjoy working in that sort of environment.
  • You enjoy being part of a team and mixing in when things get busy, as they inevitably do.
  • You’re educated to high standard. You are likely to be a graduate, or something similar.
  • An eagerness to develop your core skills – and with them, your career.

There’s no set formula to this, but your friends see you as someone who is always at the centre of things and bring an infectious energy to everything you do.

LOCATION & HOURS
It’s a 40-hour week, out visiting prospects clients and networking, mostly around Kent, but also visiting the office in the Ashford area.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Annual salary is negotiable £22k – £25k (depending on skills and experience) plus commission (making a realistic earning potential of £35k to £40k in year 1), along with a benefits package including laptop, mobile phone, and travel costs/allowance. The company is also open to extra training and development support for the right candidate.

INTERVIEW PROCESS AND STARTING DATE:
The target start date is as soon as practically possible depending on notice periods. Before that will be a screening interview with Martin Ellis of the RSE Group. Thereafter will be two interviews at our client’s offices.
