OUR CLIENT COMPANY
Based in East Sussex, our client is a highly successful engineering company with creativity at its core. The company has grown substantially in recent years and plans to continue that growth. They have a strong market position and a team that work together creating bespoke pieces, mostly in non-ferrous materials.

The company needs a Middle Weight Designer/Project Manager to join their design team.
It will be your responsibility to manage a number of projects concurrently, from enquiry stage through to completion. You will be the main point of contact for the client/architect/workshop and electrical engineers.
You will issue programme information, including production of estimates, sales orders, and production drawings for manufacturing and design approval. You will also liaise with the Production Manager to give timescales to clients. Outsourced work will also need to be arranged and managed to ensure subcontractors are working to deadlines and budgets, and that all necessary information has been supplied to them.
The design and draughting elements are critical to this role. You will be creating client and production drawings for bespoke lighting, hardware and furniture projects, working to tight deadlines. Good time management is important, as you’ll need to juggle multiple tasks and projects.
It will be necessary to sometimes meet clients at the enquiry stage, manage the project though it’s production, and maintain good client relations.
3 years or so of experience in a similar role is essential.
Proficiency in SolidWorks is important, as is producing technical drawings for manufacture. Experience in lighting design would be an advantage. A knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques is also key, as is good communication skills, especially those that are client facing.
LOCATION & HOURS
The company offices and factory are in the southern part of East Sussex. It’s formally a 40-hour week.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Basic salary will be up to £28,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
